CJ Affiliate by Conversant (formerly Commission Junction) is a global affiliate marketing network, specializing in pay-for-performance programs that drive results for businesses around the world. This article describes how to configure CJ Affiliate in your Tealium iQ account.

Tag Configuration

First, go to Tealium's Tag Marketplace and add the CJ Affiliate Tag (formerly Commission Junction) Tag to your profile (how to add a Tag?).

After adding the Tag, configure the below settings:

  1. Title (Required): Enter a descriptive title to identify the Tag instance.
  2. Client ID (Optional): Enter the advertiser's numeric ID provided in your CJ Account. You have the option to dynamically configure this field through mapping.
  3. Sale Tag Type (Required): Select the type of event data you want to send to the Tag.
  • Standard: This will send the value of CID (Client ID), OID (order ID), TYPE (Action ID) and CURRENCY.
  • Advanced: This will send the value of ITEM (item ID), AMT (price), QTY (quantity), DCNT (discount) pertinent to each product.
  1. Action ID (Optional): Enter the numeric ID assigned by Commission Junction to identify the conversion event. You have the option to dynamically configure this field through mapping.
  2. Container Tag ID (Optional): Enter the ID to uniquely identify the iframe (container) Tag. Note: Leave this field blank if you want to use the image Tag.

Data Mappings

Mapping is the process of sending data from a Data Layer Variable to the corresponding destination variable of the vendor Tag. For instructions on how to map a Variable to a Tag destination, see Data Mappings.

The destination variables for the CJ Affiliate Tag (formerly Commission Junction) Tag are built into its Data Mapping tab. Available categories are:

Standard

Destination Name Description
Client ID (cid) Map to this variable to dynamically configure the Client ID. Note: This variable is incorrectly labeled as 'Container Tag ID' in the toolkit.
Action ID (aid) Map to this variable to dynamically configure the Action ID, which is the TYPE parameter of the query string.
Container Tag ID (containerid) Map to this variable to dynamically configure the Container Tag ID.
Name (name) Map to this variable to dynamically configure the Name, which uniquely identifies your conversion tag.

E-Commerce

Since the CJ Affiliate Tag is e-commerce enabled, it will automatically use the default E-Commerce Extension mappings. Manually mapping in this category is generally not needed unless:

  • You want to override any Extension mappings
  • Your desired e-commerce variable is not offered in the Extension

Product Price (AMT) Map to this variable to override the product prices.
Product Quantity (QTY) Map to this variable to override the product quantities.
Product Discount (DCNT) Map to this variable to override the discounts applicable to the product.
Order Discount (DISCOUNT) Map to this variable to the discount applicable to the order.
Order ID (OID) Map to this variable to the ID of the order.
Order Total (AMOUNT) Map to this variable to override the subtotal applicable to the order.
Order Currency (CURRENCY) Map to this variable to override the currency applicable to the order. Defaults to USD.
Order Coupon (COUPON) Map to this variable to the coupon name applicable to the order.

These variables are not to be used unless instructed by your assigned CJ Client Integration Engineer

Destination Name Description
Channel (CHANNEL) Map to this variable to the channel attributed to the last click.
Channel_TS (CHANNEL_TS) Map to this variable to the date/time stamp attributed to the last click.
