Scan Companion is a simple tool that allows you to scan a specific work flow of pages on your site for tags that are not managed through Tealium iQ. Scan Companion is a complementary tool to Site Scan.
You must activate Site Scan by contacting your account manager before using Scan Companion.
This article covers the following topics:
The purpose of Scan Companion is to scan pages for unmanaged Tags by stepping through a specific workflow on your site. For example, if you wanted to see what Tags load when a visitor goes through a conversion funnel, you would turn on Scan Companion, take the various actions that lead a visitor down the funnel, and complete a sale. Scan Companion records the Tags your browser requests while navigating through the workflow. When you complete the workflow Scan Companion generates a report which can be reviewed in Tealium iQ.
You can only run Scan Companion on the Chrome browser using the Tealium Tools plugin.
To get Scan Companion:
To use Scan Companion:
If you click away from Scan Companion, the tool will disappear. If you look in the upper right corner, you will see the Tealium Tools icon has changed to , indicating that a recording is in progress. You can click on the icon to bring the tool back up.
When you start recording, the page you are on will reload. This ensures that Scan Companion scans that page. At this point the utag.js file is disabled, preventing any Tags and Extensions managed through Tealium iQ from loading.
There are two items Scan Companion tracks while it records:
As you navigate through the pages of your chosen workflow, each page shows up as an expandable entry. Click on this entry and you can see the URL requests made for that page.
You can pause the recording at any time, then resume again by clicking Continue Recording.
If you are already logged into Tealium iQ in another tab in the Chrome browser, Scan Companion will use your login information from that session. Otherwise you must enter your Tealium iQ login information to send the report to Tealium iQ.
