Data variables not available in Audience Stream to create Traits from..?

Perhaps I'm going about something wrong, but in the LiveTrace of the Audience Stream I see events, and I see data variables/values that I'd like to store as attributes (traits/timelines, etc).  When I go to create those attributes based on the traits, I don't see any of those variables however to choose from and create rules/enrichments on.  

i.e. We have an internal variable like "PageCategory", but I can't seem to create a trait or tally based on that variable.

Am I doing something wrong in IQ, AS? or just missing something otherwise obvious? :)

@Michael_Kim_shc please try again and let me know. There is a backend configuration that needed to be completed and it was just implemented.
