Hi everybody,

What would be the best practice when you have different domains for the same client/business and you want a tealium implementation?

  • Two different profiles
  • One profile and different filters/triggers for the tags

Thanks

Best regads,

Sara

Hey @sara,

I suggest that you should use seperate profiles for each domain because eventhough it belongs to the same business typically the marketing activities, resources, tracking etc would vary. Therefore the best solution would be to use a seperate profile for each domain.

@sara

I've experienced this with many deployments and it depend on how your organization handles these domains.

As @Yoosuf stated, if your organization treats each domain wholey unique where there is likely zero bouncing between domains, then separate profiles will do. However, if visitors are moving between domains, for example your landing/marketing pages direct a visitor to a different domain for purchasing, then you should use the same profile. Tealium iQ is very flexible and powerful enough to handle a single profile pointing to multiple analytics instances.

Our deployment and customer success teams have the skills and experience necessary to provide you with the correct answer as well as the pros/cons of each. Having a discussion to understand your business needs and how your vendors need to track visitors will guide you to the correct determination. I'd recommond going this route before jumping in and creating new profiles.

Hope this is helpful!
