I wanted to see what others are using in order to display cookie consent notifications on their sites since this is a requirement in the EU?  I did not find any existing tags in the marketplace.

I have looked at various solutions and I wanted to see what others are using and which ones are easiest to implement in Tealium.

thanks

Mark

Hi @mark_jaggers

Tealium offers this functionality as a package within our product suite. You can read about it here (notice the cookie usage banner at the bottom of the page) and watch this video for details. This allows you to control tags within the TMS where tracking begins, instead of relying on a 3rd-party service. Check it out and let your AM or sales rep know if you'd like more details.

Cheers,

-Dan George

Hi Dan,

Thanks for pointing me to that page.  I will talk to my AM.

BTW:  that cookie usage banner at the bottom of that page is just a wordpress plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/cookie-law-info/

@mark_jaggers Have you looked at the Privacy Manager Extension?

I would go for Cookiebot if I were to pick one today. We run the Tealium privacy extension, but it is not as useful as I would wish. And maybe most importantly it does not reach and display on the cookie level to the end user, only on the script level, which is actually not enough.

We used a Content Mod extension to create custom banners (one for implicit consent and one for express consent) that were inline with our site branding. This allowed us to present the proper message at the market level, as well as for device type.

https://uk.godaddy.com (implicit consent; grey warning banner at the foot)

https://nl.godaddy.com (express consent)

I also created extensions that prevents all tags from loading prior to consent being collected in express consent markets (this will expand to all EU markets with GDPR), and modified the privacy manager extension to force a document reload if a user either "Accepts" the use of cookies, or manages their preferences in the PM.

For a not for profit organization I have to create a cookie consent bar that communicaties with the tealium privacymanager to inform and get consent for placing cookies. Who knows an easy way to:

- Prevent cookies from being loaded on initial load of the website

- Accept cookies on clicking on accept in a cookiebar

- Offer the possibilty to change cookie settings

I like the solutions using cookie law info and the custom solutions from godaddy. I tried to use the cookie law info method, but cannot get the optoutmulti cookie to be loaded after clicking on accept. The Godaddy solution seems to difficult for me (not a developer) to implement.

Hope anyone can help!

Kind regards,
Erik

@ErikDekker Tealium is working on releasing some new features to help you to do what you've asked. You'll have the ability to create a notification that appears when a user accesses the site for the first time, and then store their consent preferences based on what they select. These features will be out this month, possibly as soon as the end of this week, but that date is subject to change. Currently, to have a consent banner set up in TiQ does require some knowledge of code. If you need assistance, you may want to speak to your Account Manager about contracting some deployment services to have the team at Tealium set it up on your behalf.

Some information about the new features is available here: https://community.tealiumiq.com/t5/Announcements/Preparing-for-GDPR/m-p/22574#M97 and I will try and come back and update this post once I hear that it's released.
