Event Tracking Basics

I am used to doing hand coding on click events where I would add code to the website page itself and the event would be sent to Google Analytics.  I want to now know how to get the same results but doing it through Tealium.  I use gtag.js for Google Analytics.  My website doesn't use jQuery.  Can someone walk me through the basics for this?  After I understand this part, I will want to to learn how to track videos and track forms.  Please help.  Thanks.
