GA4 - Firing custom events

Hi Tealgeeks,

My team and i are trying to fire custom events for a GA4 tag.

The thing is quite simple, and for other Tags works perfectly. We have an UDO variable wich hash the event data that should match the GA4 event name, for example. lets imagine that our UDO "gtagEvent" has the value "event41" at the momment that the tags fired:

Then we expected with this config to fire "App Onclick start" event... But nothing happens.photo1653322569.jpeg

We have tested and forced several of these mappings, and NOTHING fires as a custom event. Just the "page_view" and other "standard" events from GA4 that are available on the tag config.

Any clue?

Kind regards and thx.

Hi Juan Carlos,

have you got over this issue? How have you solved it?

We are mapping custom events to 'tealium_event' variable (as recommended in setup guide https://community.tealiumiq.com/t5/Client-Side-Tags/Google-Analytics-4-GA4-Tag-Setup-Guide/ta-p/3528...) and we're able to send custom event flawlessly.

Have you tried this out? to map to tealium_event instead of gtagEvent?

Hope it could help.

Kind regards,

I ran into a similar issue (although I was already mapping via tealium_event). As I can see from your screenshot, you have a lot of event-names with spaces in them and that was causing the issue for me. Try changing the values so they don't contain spaces in your "gtagEvent" variable and map them accordingly.
Best,
