Having Sync and Async Utag scripts on the same page

We are trying to test a particular sync tag (Maxymiser) on our site. We always have utag.js firing asynchronously on the site. Now to test the new sync tag, we have also included utag.sync.js on our site. Will this cause an issue (having sync and async utag scripts on the same page?

We edited the sync template and added the sync tag script to the template but we are seeing an error on the console and the tag does not seem to be working.

Any insights on what could be causing this?

Please ignore the origina post or delete if possible. We found that the issue was with the utag.sync.js call (it was still async) and made it synchronous. We are seeing the tag now as expected.
