How to capture OutBrain publisher id query parameter with DoubleClick redirect

Hi fellow Tealium geeks,

Hope you’re well.

I was wondering if you could help us with a technical challenge.

Background

We’re running traffic acquisition campaign activity for some of our News UK clients.

We’re using media partners such as OutBrain to drive traffic to certain websites.

In order to optimise to the best performing sites within the OutBrain network, we’re trying to populate an OutBrain macro which would pick a publisher ID up from the site and would carry it over to the landing page along with the rest of the query parameters (GA utm parameters).

Request

Do you know how we could do this as the dynamic click trackers do not seem to work with the macros?

An Example landing page URL which is then converted into a DoubleClick dynamic click tracker:

https://www.dreamteamfc.com/c/ronaldinhos-friend-will-make-want-weep/?utm_source=Outbrain&utm_medium...

Note:

the above is converted into something like this (example)

https://ad.doubleclick.net/ddm/clk/300813740;127766383;e

As you can see the utm_term= parameter is not populated with a value.

Let us know your thoughts please.

Cheers,

Ben

How to capture OutBrain publisher id query parameter with DoubleClick redirect

Hello @VCCP_Media. Assuming I understand correctly, you want to pass utm_term to the doubleclick tag, and currently it's getting dropped?

All query string parameters are automatically added to the data layer as qp.variablename  so, in this case it would be qp.utm_term.

You could map that to the doubleclick tag, or you could use a set data values extension to write it to a different variable and map that.

Does that answer your question?

Many thanks
