How to set _cevent for Facebook Custom Audiences Tag?

How do I use mapping when _cevent doesn't even exist? I assume that I should create a UDO for this. Is that correct?

Assuming that you have a data source that contains the information that you want to pass to _cevent then you may find this answer: https://community.tealiumiq.com/t5/Tealium-iQ/Is-there-a-way-to-map-to-a-data-source-to-a-user-defin... helpful.

The long and short of it is that you can always add a user-defined destination to a data source in the data mappings step of the tag configuration wizard. The only thing that I would caution (because I'm not familiar with this tag) is that _cevent is the correct name of the variable on the request string to Facebook.

Hi Clint, Yes, I understand how to pass user-defined data. My question is about this tag in particular. I just makes no sense to me. When I go to Data Mapping and Select Destination, there is an Events tab. The instructions are: Event Triggers (Purchase event is automatically set when an Order ID is present. For the Custom event change "myEvent" to your event name after clicking Apply.) The tag I'm currently setting up is the ViewContent tag. In Data Mapping, what Data Source do I select as the basis for the mapping? Do I need to create a new UDO variable? If so, and I select that UDO, in the Events tab in the Mapping Toolbox, what do I enter as the Value for the ViewContent trigger? Thanks, Larry

Thanks for the clarification Larry, I've asked a deployment engineer to take a look at this as my knowledge of the Facebook tags is extremely limited. Stay tuned.

Hi, You will find that the new "Facebook Pixel" tag handles events a lot more easily, and is also the latest version of code from Facebook. When you use the mapping toolbox, go to the events tab and add as many individual event mappings are are required. You are correct that you will need to create a UDO variable for this mapping, and populate it using a lookup table or set data values extension (I usually call the UDO variable "facebook_event") Many thanks Steve Lake
