How will changing a tag title affect it's performance in regards to Extensions?

I'm going through fall cleanup of the environment and have some tags named with NEW that I'd now like to rename. I'm concerned about the extensions that link to them. Does the link change dynamically or will the connection break with the name and I'll have to reconnect?

If the extension is scoped to the tag, the link is automatically updated.  No impact.
