Hi there
I am looking for the best solution to the following:
There's a library that holds all major tags for a large number of linked profiles (50+). Analytics Custom dimensions 1-149 are reserved for common variables. No problem here.
But CDs 150-200 are reserved for profile-specific variables. This means for example that in profile "A" CD 150 should get Variable "abc" mapped whereas in profile "B" CD 150 would be Variable "xyz".
Because of the large portion of common mappings and the large number of profiles it still makes sense to manage the tag in the library.
What's best to have a manageable mapping of the individual variables? Was thinking of setting up Data Layer variables like "custom_var_150", "custom_var_151" etc. and then set the value to these variables in a profile-specific extensions (of type "Set Data value" or "Javascript"). But I am not sure if this is the path to follow.
What do you think?
Many thanks in advance for you thoughts :-)

Hi @jmbolfing,
I think your proposed solution is the best one. As you've found, the mappings for a library tag can only be altered in the library itself.
