Where do I create custom events for Google Analytics?

I'm pretty sure I am over complicating the basics but I have managed to confuse myself in the process. I have created a Google Analytics tag in Tealium and need to track clicks on Submit buttons for "Contact Us", "Register" and "Email SignUps" (all on different pages of my site). "Contact Us, Register and Email signups" are all in my data sources. Do I need to put "Submit" in data sources as well? Or do I need to input all these things into extensions? Where do I create an Event and what needs to be in Data Sources?

This post was from 2013.  How do I do the same event tracking in July 2018?  I use gtag.js for google analytics.  Can you show me how to do the same mappings for gtag.js?

Hello @michaelgray. The setup is still the same for event tracking. Let us know if How To Guide: Event Tracking with Google Analytics is working for you or not. Thank you and look forward to your reply.

Hi @kathleen_jo

We are sending custom dimensions and metrics associated with the events and it's not working, we are mapping for example as cdm.dimension6-tipo_deporte-link, where "tipo_deporte" is the datalayer UDO attribute. Could you help us please?

Kind regards
Óscar

Hi @ofernandezg

I'd recommend raising a support ticket so that an engineer can take a look and help you troubleshoot.

Many thanks
