Youtube cookies and GDPR

Hi there

When you embed Youtube videos, even with the youtube-nocookie.com domain, a number of 3rd party cookies get set once the video plays. These cookies are only present during playback of the video.

With Tealium Consent Manager in place, users are asked for their consent to cookies. However, the consent manager does not have any influence on these Youtube cookies. And it is hard to imagine how it could, since these cookies are not set by a tag or extension served out of Tealium but by the Youtube platform.

To be compliant, I guess, videos should be hidden as long as there is no consent. But how to align this with Tealium consent manager?

Does anyone have experience with this subject? Would love to hear how you solved this.

Many thanks...Jean-Marc

Hi @jmbolfing - did you come to any conclusions so far? You might wrap the YouTube embed tag in an extension which fires only if consent has occurred, and injects the YouTube embed tag into the page contents. Others may chime in with ideas and suggestions....
