product_brand and product_category is still not tracking in Google Analytics

We've been going back and forth about this over the past few months and it is still not working. We have mapped the two variables to GA in our GA tag but product categories and product brands are not accurately tracking in google analytics reporting. Any advice? I'm not getting anywhere with support.
