Managing Profiles

Your iQ account is organized into profiles. A profile typically corresponds to a website (or set of websites with similar or identical tagging requirements) or a mobile app. Your account and profile names are referenced in the installation code for website and mobile apps.

Creating a Profile

Only users with the Create Profile permission may create profiles. Learn more about Managing User Permissions.

To create a profile:

  1. Open the Admin menu and click Manage Profiles to open the Manage Profiles window.
  2. In the side-bar, click Add in the Profiles section.
  3. Enter a name for the new profile (maximum 50 characters).

    Profile/Library names can only contain the following characters: a-z, 0-9, period (.), and hyphen (-). In addition, the following restrictions apply: the names "main" and "all" are reserved and cannot be used, the name cannot contain a double hyphen (--), and the name cannot begin with a period (eg. ".profile2").

  4. (Optional) Click + to add another profile name (to create multiple profiles at once).
  5. Check items in the Copy Elements From section. These items will be copied from the current profile into the newly created one(s).
  6. Click Create Profile to create the profile(s). The new profile(s) will appear in the Profiles list.

    Though the tag templates for the individual tags are copied, the templates for utag.js and utag.sync.js are not. To copy these templates follows the steps below.  

Copy the tag template for utag.js or utag.sync.js

These steps show how to copy the tag template for utag.js and utag.sync.js from the origin profile and paste it into the new profile.

From the origin profile:

  1. Open the Admin menu and click Manage Templates.
  2. In the drop-down list, select:
    • utag.js:  uTag Loader (Profile) UID:loader
    • utag.sync.js:  uTag Sync (Profile) UID:sync
    A modal window will display the template code.
  3. Enter Ctrl-A/Cmd-A to highlight the content of the template pop-up then enter Ctrl-C/Cmd-C to copy.
  4. Click Close.

From the new profile (See Switching Profiles.):

  1. Open the Admin menu and click Manage Templates.
  2. In the drop-down list, select:
    • utag.js:  uTag Loader (Profile) UID:loader
    • utag.sync.js:  uTag Sync (Profile) UID:sync
    A modal window will display the template code.
  3. Click the trash can icon to remove the tag template content.
  4. Then enter Ctrl-V/Cmd-V to paste the contents copied from the origin profile.
  5. Click Save Profile Template to save the new template code.
  6. Save and publish.

Repeat for additional profiles if more than one profile was created in the copy.

 

Switching Profiles

Your account may contain several profiles.

To switch to another profile:

  1. Click the account/profile menu.
  2. Select the profile you wish to switch to.
  3. Select the version of that profile to switch to (the most recent version is the default selection).
  4. Click Load Version.

Removing Profiles

If you wish to remove an existing profile, submit a request through Tealium Support Desk.

Renaming Profiles (Deprecated)

The "Rename Profile" feature has been disabled.

While you cannot rename an existing profile, you can copy its elements into a new profile by following the  instructions above.

Profile Libraries

A library is identical to a profile, but with the special ability to be imported into another profile. Libraries are used to manage configurations that are shared across multiple profiles.
