When you make changes to your configuration in iQ Tag Management, the interface provides visual cues to alert you of the unsaved changes. The article shows how to know when you have unsaved changes and how to save and publish them.

Save/Publish Window

Clicking the Save/Publish button displays the Save/Publish window. The following image shows the entire dialog and the next section describes each step of the save and publish process.

When you are ready to save and publish your settings, click Save/Publish. Use the following steps to save and publish your changes:

  1. Select one of the following save options:
    • Save
      Use this option to overwrite the current revision. You will not be able to revert to the previous revision.
    • Save As
      Use this option to create a new version. preserving a copy of the previous version. This is the default setting and the recommended save method as it provides the ability to rollback changes and retrieve previous versions.
  2. In the Title field, enter a title or keep the default title.
    This is a required field. By default, the Title field displays a date and timestamp.
  3. In the Notes field, enter notes about changes you made to the version.
    The notes entered in this field are useful if you need to rollback to this version in the future. This is a required field, you cannot save the version without entering notes.
  4. Select zero or more of the three default publish environments (Dev, QA, or Prod) or a custom environment.

Other information about your save and publish:

  • Your Changes,
    An itemized list of your unsaved changes.
  • Version History
    Historical details include the environment the version was published to, a timestamp, the author of the change, and relevant notes.
  • Code Center 
    Click this button to get the code needed to place on your webpage in order to implement the Tealium Universal Tag (utag.js).

When you complete a save and publish of your account, new code is generated and the files on the CDN are updated. This process is normally instant, but it can take up to a few minutes. The primary tool used for verifying the status of the Universal tag (utag.js) on your site is Web Companion.

Version Number / Timestamp

The version number, or timestamp of the current revision, is the best way to verify that your changes are live on the site. Match the timestamp from Web Companion to the date and time of your last publish to verify that your changes are live.

Compare the timestamp to the version displayed in Web Companion once the version has been reloaded on the page.

The timezone reported in Tealium iQ is GMT while the timezone is reported locally within Web Companion.
