This article describes how to view and understand marketplace tag reports.

How it Works
The Tag Reporting view shows usage and performance data for the Tealium marketplace tags implemented on your site. This view helps you interpret various performance metrics, such as site visits, CDN requests, and vendor tag loads. Tag reports are intended for basic IT purposes and should not be considered an analytics tool.
Viewing Tag Reports
Use the following steps to view the tag reporting charts:
In the left sidebar, click Client-Side Tools > Tag Reporting. The tag Usage and Operational reports for the last seven (7) days display for all profiles.
Select a profile from the Perspective drop-down list. The tag Usage and Operational reports for the selected profile display.
In the Dates fields, use the calendar drop-down top select a date range. The reports for the selected timeframe display.
Understanding Tag Reports
Each chart in the tag report features two (2) different views: Trended and Cumulative.
Trended This view displays how the data trends or varies over the date range selected.
Cumulative This view displays the total of all data points captured up until that date selected in the ending date range, as shown in the following example:
The following sections describe the information conveyed in each report type.
Visits Report
The Visit Report displays the visit (session) count for the period of time specified.
You must have utag.js version 4.26 or later to view this report.
A visit, or session, is the amount of time a visitor spends navigating through your site. The visit begins with the first page request and ends when the visitor navigates away from your site or when a predetermined period of time has elapsed (usually 30 minutes).
Loader Tag Report
The Loader Tag Report displays the number of tag requests (loads) that occur during the period of time specified. Loads are plotted for the utag.js, utag.sync.js, and the mobile.html file requests.
Vendor Tags
The Vendor Tags Report displays the number of times the vendor tags (utag.*.js) were loaded on a given day in the specified date range.
Tag Error and Tag Kills data is not collected and always displays zero (0).

Due to the complexity of troubleshooting issues inside of mobile apps, please contact your account or deployment manager for assistance. Normally getting a screenview on a utag.link() is not possible, so we would need detailed information to investigate.

Fiann's answer is great, but if you want to fire more than 1 of these on a page, the easiest approach is to have separate tag instances. Fiann's approach would fire one Adwords tag at any given time.

Roshan is correct. Any custom dimensions/metrics must be configured in the GUA console first. If you do not configure them, Google will not know what to do with those data points and simply drop them.

Hi Moyed,
Custom variables are not supported in GUA. They're there for clients who have updated to GUA in the Google admin console but are still using the legacy GA Classic code on their website. The equivalent to these in GUA are a combination of custom dimensions and custom metrics.

Mehdi's recommendation is good but requires you know how to write jQuery selectors.
You can select all 'a' elements generically simply by using 'a' as your selector, but if your goal is to only select the navigational items you will have to get more detailed (but not as detailed as coding IDs for every item you want to track). Every site is different though and without direct examination of your page we wouldn't be able to recommend the exact selector for your use-case. I'd recommend contacting your account or deployment manager so we can look into this for you.

The only issue I've seen is if a client was unable to determine when their utag_data was complete, at which case they were sometimes firing when the utag_data was not complete. If you're able to key off of when utag_data is done though you should not run into any issues.

One thing to note is that if your tag says 'custom' template, you don't want to update without making sure your customizations won't be loss in the upgrade.

Samrat's suggestion with the cookie makes sense, except if you have the kind of site that reloads the order-confirmation data layer on all past orders as well. This can be something difficult to work around.
Ideally, your development team should be encoding the data layer for purchases to only load on the initial purchase. Subsequent reloads of any kind should suppress the purchasing data layer completely.

Hi Martin,
As long as you suppress the initial pageview that utag.js generates (this is the main thing to be aware of), you just need to trigger utag.view() after you know the UDO is complete. This works fine for our clients that are on Angular-style constructed pages.

Hi Andre,
Indirectly. You could have a couple of set data value extensions where you create a new var, with a first set data value extension where 'search_status' is set to text 'not_found'. Then create a second extension with a condition of 'search results IS defined' AND 'search results DOES NOT EQUAL 0', and if all true, 'search_status' is set to text 'successful'. From there you should be able to key off of the value of 'search_status' to trigger your event incrementing.

Hi Patrick,
If I'm understanding your use-case correctly, I think this is a fair question to ask.
What I would recommend trying is rather than do a call to utag.view() or utag.link() alone, do this instead:
//note the first line is referencing utag.data, not utag_data
utag.data = {};
utag.view ( { name : "data1" } );
Where the value being passed to utag.view() directly are all the values you'd like to use, rather than using utag_data for subsequent calls. This means that if you do want to use a pre-existing value, you'd need to alter this approach. There are some other minor caveats we'd be happy to work through with this if so if you'd like assistance, please contact your AM if you'd need more detailed assistance with this.

Hi Rachana,
Since you're using utag.sync, you should be scoping Ty's code to the "All Tags" setting in a JavaScript code extension. You should not be running the marketplace Target Sync tag with the utag.sync.js implementation. Normally the ecommerce extension would do this for you but it's a bit different with utag.sync.js implemented tags. You should see the mbox fire on an order confirm if this is set up correctly, no content mod extension required.

Hi David,
The b['s_account'] var isn't created by the tag template. 'b' properties are only created by your data layer or extension, that's why it's undefined. To do what you're doing you'd need an extension running before this one that says b['s_account']= 'report_suite_name_here'

Hi Greg, You should be able to use this to see what version you have: Tag Status Checker If you have something older than 4.26 you should contact your AM so we can update you. If you're at 4.26 or newer you should be able to update relatively safely on your own using this: How do I upgrade to the latest utag.js? But always QA thoroughly before pushing this kind of update to production. We're looking into ways to present the information here in more intuitive ways so please stay tuned! Hope this helps!
