Keep reading below and get to know Jane better.  How do you interact with Tealium’s products on a daily basis? I have a number of clients who have Tealium at the centre of their martech stack which means on any given day I am configuring new data sources and attributes in AudienceStream, spot checking connector actions, testing out extensions in TiQ or running use case workshops. What do you like to do outside of work? When I'm not working, I spend most of my time outdoors. I could easily spend hours at the driving range. What do you see as the hottest trends in technology today? Consumer behaviour has changed so profoundly due to the pandemic. Re-evaluating how we live, work, spend our time and resources has meant that we've found new ways for technology to help us live fuller and richer lives. What's been interesting to watch is how our new way of living has accelerated a reliance on services like home delivery, mobile shopping and chatbots. Many people who were hesitant about online shopping made the shift out of necessity. That said, people found that, when done well, online shopping was convenient, efficient and safe. How can an organization stay relevant five years from now? Staying relevant means being flexible and being available to your customers in the format that they like best. Some customers prefer shopping straight from Instagram while others prefer Amazon storefronts then you have to consider whether people want to shop from their computers or their phone. Understanding where and how people want to be met means that organizations are investing in what’s known as “headless ecommerce”. What do you consider most promising in the era of big data? Millions upon millions of online events end up in data lakes every day. Often, this becomes the end of the line for all this data that has been so dutifully collected. But how do you take information that is overwhelming and turn it into something that can actually be used? An increased focus on data catalogs, which ensure that metadata is catalogued, discoverable, unified and protected will be the key to making sure data is actually used. What app would be hard for you to live without? YT Music is on the shortlist of apps I use every day. What was the worst job you’ve ever had? I've been fortunate on that front—I've enjoyed every job that I had! That said, I have had my fair share of, shall we say, “humbling” experiences. One that comes to mind occurred during an internship for a major luxury company. Part of my role was VIP client relations which meant making sure store visits for select clientele went off without a hitch. One such client, who had a reputation for being demanding, made a large purchase and although I packed up his items, I had missed one. Mortified, I flagged the mistake to my manager who told me to fix it before he realized my mistake. I packed the item as prettily as I could, and ran to his hotel to hopefully meet his car as he arrived. Through my panting, I handed over the item and apologized for my error which I think he found rather comical. I walked back glad I was spared! If you could meet any historical figure, who would you choose and why? Back in the 90s the government of Canada ran these commercials that depicted pivotal moments in Canadian history called “Heritage Minutes”. One of these commercials depicted two women in a university lecture hall who were being subjected to hostility from their professor and fellow students for daring to think they could study medicine. One woman, Jennie Trout, fed up to the back teeth of these jeers, faced down the hecklers and made it clear to everyone that she wasn’t going anywhere. As a kid, I was so struck by how bold she was—she went on to become the first woman to practice medicine in Canada. I have great respect for her and anyone who is so dogged in their pursuits, whatever they may be. David is a freelance Implementation Specialist from the Basque Country in Spain, and the author of our latest user blog: UDO Debugger Chrome Extension for Tealium iQ Implementations. Keep reading below and get to know David better.  How do you interact with Tealium’s products on a daily basis? I mostly work with Tealium IQ, doing all types of implementations and trying to get the most from the tool. I try building tools to make my daily work easier in my own way. What do you like to do outside of work? That is an easy question to answer. When I'm not at work, I'm likely riding my bike or hiking. What do you see as the hottest trends in technology today? There are a lot of trends in technology: AI, ML, RPA, Cloud, IoT, to mention some of them. What I find really interesting is how some of them are starting to work together like in the Hyper Automation or how some of them are turning out to be really useful, not just a bunch of data floating in the Cloud, like with the Edge Computing. It's going to be a real challenge for companies and legislators to manage all these new technologies from a privacy perspective. How can an organization stay relevant five years from now? It's hard to think where we will be in 5 years because of how extremely fast the industry is evolving, but I'd say organizations that will stay relevant are those who invest in people, more explicitly in talented people. Tools will evolve, clients will move on and there's nothing a company can do about it, instead they have a chance to do something about their employees. Successful companies need to have the capacity to quickly adapt new trends, new technologies, keep an open mind, and that's only possible when working with talented people who are passionate about what they do. What do you consider most promising in the era of big data? I think the exponential growth curve of data and how the Cloud is allowing many companies access to Big Data so they can focus on making that data actionable. It is really exciting to see how important Big Data is turning out to be. It’s going to be applicable to almost any field in the future. What app would be hard for you to live without? I'm not necessarily hooked to any specific app - I keep switching apps when a new and better option comes up. Maybe worth mentioning that every time I reset my phone, I always install 3 apps in a strict order for some reason - Twitter, Linkedin and at least 1 application for searching flights. What was the worst job you’ve ever had? I think it would be when I worked as a server outsourcing/technician. Anything could go wrong at any given time and you'd have to be available. It was impossible to know how long a fix would take and I really prefer to have a more stable schedule. If you could meet any historical figure, who would you choose and why? Nikola Tesla. One of the most influential scientists, and also one of the most forgotten ones, who was decades ahead of his time. I can't imagine the actual world without many of his inventions (properly accredited or not) and his theories (demonstrated or not). And lastly… If you woke up tomorrow as an animal, what animal would you choose to be and why? A Komodo Dragon, need I explain why? . To bookmark a piece of content: Go to the item you want to bookmark. To bookmark a location, choose (Location) Options > Bookmark.  To bookmark a specific post, go to the post and choose (Post) Options > Bookmark.   To view and manage your bookmarks: Go to My Settings > Subscriptions & Notifications. Click My Bookmarks. You can click a bookmark to go to the item. To delete a bookmark, click the check box for the bookmark and click Bookmark Options > Delete Selected Bookmarks.   Subscriptions let you get email updates whenever new content appears in an area of the community that you're interested in. You can subscribe to a board, a blog article, an idea exchange, or any other location in the community. You can also subscribe to a specific post. To subscribe a piece of content: Go to the item you want to subscribe to. To subscribe to a location, click (Location) Options > Subscribe. To subscribe to a specific post, go to the post and click (Post) Options > Subscribe   To view and manage your subscriptions: Go to My Settings > Subscriptions & Notifications. Click My Subscriptions to see a list of the items you've subscribed to. You can click a subscription to go to the item.
