How do you interact with Tealium’s products on a daily basis?

I work with iQ, though not on a daily basis. But when I do, I most often work on JS Code extensions or something related to Adobe Target or Adobe Analytics tags. I am our teams' internal developer and also help colleagues with other more technical facets of iQ.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with my wife and two daughters. Then I also try to keep up with episodes of my favourite apocalypse and science fiction series.

From time to time, preparation for presentations at Superweek or sessions at MeasureCamp also takes up some of my spare time. I would like to write posts for my blog more often and practice more on my photography skills.

What do you see as the hottest trends in technology today?

DMPs (Data Management Platforms) and CDPs (Customer Data Platforms).

The hard thing here is then for companies to do it right, in regard to things like GDPR conformity and structuring the data as best as possible, and not just chucking all sorts of data in there “just because we can”.

How can an organization stay relevant five years from now?

Always do their best at optimizing the user experience to cater for what the users really needs.

Call it karma; if you help your users, your users will help you. If you make stuff easier for you users, they will remember you for it. Many companies could easily do this a lot better than they already now.

What do you consider most promising in the era of big data?

That the worlds of CRM data and digital analytics data can merge in great ways. Before big data, those worlds were most often totally separate entities.

A lot of people would then say, that in these GDPR days, that is problematic. I don’t agree, since even aggregated or segmented merging of the datasets is worth a lot. You don’t need to know names or postal addresses of people to better tailor apps or websites for the needs of the users.

What app would be hard for you to live without?

My password manager. I am really not good at remembering my passwords.

What was the worst job you’ve ever had?

That would be paper boy, my first job. It was physically cumbersome, and the pay was exceptionally low. I was 13 years old, and then it was apparently allowed to pay very low wages.

If you could meet any historical figure, who would you choose and why?

Einstein. An intelligent and funny man, whom I think I would have enjoyed having conversations with.

And lastly… If you woke up tomorrow as an animal, what animal would you choose to be and why?

A Bumblebee. Apparently it shouldn’t be able to fly, but it doesn’t know that, so it’s doing it anyway.
